The US compliance path runs through FM Approvals (Factory Mutual), UL Product Certification, or ASTM D6878 and ASTM D4637 for thermoplastic membrane systems. The CSI section is Division 07. German manufacturers with AbP (Allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Pruefzeugnisse) and European test data have performance evidence that maps to ASTM. The FM Approval or UL listing typically has not been pursued.
The AHK USA (German-American Chamber of Commerce) network is the most effective channel for German companies entering the US business community. AHK Atlanta, AHK Chicago, AHK New York, and AHK Houston run events, trade delegations, member directories, and matchmaking programs that reach US distributors, US business contacts, and US partners.
The AHK channel does not reach the architect's specification library. The specification decision for a Bavarian window system or a German structural connector is made at the architect's desk, the structural engineer's review table, or the general contractor's estimating desk. Those desks are not in the AHK member directory. They are in the spec-writer outreach channel, the AIA CES program, and the CSI chapter network.
